🍎 Science Fair Specialty Awards, April 10
The PEI Home and School Federation’s Science Fair Specialty Awards were awarded to two students: 
1.  Queen Charlotte, Grade 7 / 7e annĂ©e Pathogen AI: “My science fair project explores how AI can be used to detect fungi in food, helping to improve food safety and prevent food waste.”
2.  West Royalty, Grade 6 / 6e annĂ©e Stress Less Stress feels different for everyone, but learning how to manage it is key to a healthy lifestyle. “My project looked at - if calming strategies really do help students to focus and feel ready to learn.”

🍎 Newly Elected Board
Congratulations to the newly elected PEI Home and School Federation’s board for 2025-2026. Thank you to outgoing board reps Erin Veale, Mikayla Paynter, Jannett Jones, and Shannon Bruyneel. Theme: “
Small Island. Big Impact.” This year’s volunteer celebration week is all about shining a light on the everyday contributions volunteers make across PEI. With support from the Government of Prince Edward Island, the Community Sector Network of PEI has put together tools and opportunities to help your organization recognize, celebrate, and inspire. 🍎 Family Violence Prevention Week, May 12-18, 2025
The Premier’s Action Committee on Family Violence Prevention (PAC) encourages Island municipalities and community organizations to play an active role in 2025 Family Violence Prevention Week, 12-18 May 2025. Family Violence Prevention Week highlights PAC’s vision of a society where everyone is safe, respected, and valued and where people have opportunities to reach their full potential while contributing to the overall well-being of families and communities. The theme for Family Violence Prevention Week 2025 is "Preventing Family Violence in Older Adults."

🍎 Environmental Services Association of the Maritimes (ESAM) $1,000 scholarship is presented to three students each year pursuing post-secondary education in a science/environmental discipline; one award will be given to a student in each Maritime province.  Application forms and more information on our organization can be found at https://esamaritimes.ca/2025/04/21/esam-scholarship-program-2025/
